SPATULA

The SPATULA Group started life as an interest group looking at signal phase and timing, hence it’s name – Signal Phase And Timing Users and Local Authorities. It has since grown into a forum for all forms of live V2I, or vehicle to Infrastructure communications.

SPATULA is for all those interested in this subject and brings together the perspectives of road operators, the automotive industry, data providers and hardware suppliers. It is a place demonstrate what is happening in the UK, share experiences and ideas and link up with other projects and users.

It is a Technical Working Group of the Transport Technology Forum and its work is supported by the Department for Transport and Innovate UK.

Our group involves representatives from more than 15 different Local Authorities, Transport Authorities, Combined Authorities, and Highways Agencies. We meet regularly to exchange ideas, to find opportunities to collaborate and share best practice.

UTMC (Urban Traffic Management Control)

The STREETWISE ITS Sub Group a sub group of the main, long established STREETWISE Group and has the aim of coordinating the collective requirements of the UK national road operators for meeting the requirements of the direct Intelligent Transport Systems EU legislation requirements. The Intelligent Transport Systems (EU) Brexit Regulations 2018 will address the requirements of the Withdrawal Act (2018) by revoking the Intelligent Transport Systems EU legislation – regulations from the EU Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Directive (2010/40/EU). The ITS Directive ensured European compatibility, interoperability and continuity for the deployment and operational use of intelligent transport systems, relevant data and procedures. The legislation requires that the relevant data can be accessed and shared in a common standardised format through a national access point (NAP).
