The organisers of one of the transport industry’s first major in-person events since the Covid pandemic hit have reported a surge in bookings as people return from their summer breaks.
The JCT Traffic Signals Symposium takes on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 September at The Nottingham Conference Centre, Nottingham Trent University with 25 exhibiting companies and more than 20 papers being presented, as well as two nights of socialising and a range of networking opportunities.
The event’s keynote speaker is TTF Manager Darren Capes from the Department for Transport who’ll be talking about “Digital Standards for Describing Traffic Signal Installations” alongside leading consultant Andy Graham of White Willow Consulting.
“I think people have left it late to book this year because of all the uncertainty that’s still around in the country at the moment,” commented JCT Director John Nightingale, who is organising the event. “However, we’ve seen a real pick-up in bookings as people come back to work after the summer and get the green light to travel again, and everyone I’ve spoken to can’t wait to actually get back to real-life events and seeing their friends and colleagues in person after so many months of staring at a computer screen.”
The organisers have put together a robust covid-safe strategy to reassure people the event is fine to attend, while Nottingham Trent University has its safety event guide as well. To further reassure and minimise risk, much of the evening socialising will be held in a large, well ventilated heated beer tent outside.
Delegate places are still available to buy, and JCT is committed to its Covid guarantee which ensures people get their money back if for any reason the event does not go ahead, although as the event draws near, this is less likely to be needed as confidence soars that the event can take place in person, and in safety.
