Report: Lived experiences of women and girls in relation to everyday journeys

Innovate UK report lived experiences of women and girls everyday journeys

This report was commissioned by Innovate UK and authored by Scott Cain, CEO of Active Things, Lucy Stewart, an ethnographer and design researcher and Ness Wright, a service designer. It looks to highlight the range of challenges that particularly impact women and girls in relation to everyday journeys, with a focus on active travel and combo travel. It provides insight into the main barriers faced whilst travelling through the voices and perspectives of over 350 women and girls that responded to our survey and the follow-up online in-depth interviews that were conducted with 5 of the respondents. It is hoped that the report gives useful suggestions which innovators can use to help develop solutions that improve the travel experience of women, girls and in many cases, all transport users.
