The Local Council Roads Innovation Group, LCRIG, is delivering a new Start-Up zone at its Innovation and Learning Festival in July.
The zone is designed to provide small and emerging businesses a free opportunity to showcase their innovative solutions and pioneering technologies.

“Our festival has always been about showcasing the latest innovations and providing opportunities for learning across the sector,” explained LCRIG Operations Director Kerry Winstanley. “The Start-Up Zone will provide funded places for small businesses and start-ups to demonstrate their cutting edge products and solutions. This initiative aligns with our commitment as a Community Interest Company to give back to the highways community and support collaboration and innovation across the sector.”
Participants in the LCRIG Start-Up Zone will get a range of support including being part of event literature and promotional activities and access to the event community and list of attendees. They will also get a dedicated space within the Start-Up Zone and opportunities to network with senior decision makers and representatives from across the industry.
Each participant will get a trestle table and chairs, space for up to two roll-up banners, and a delegate pass for both days of the Festival. Start-ups can apply for funded places if they have fewer than five employees and have been trading for fewer than five years and if their turnover is less than £1.5 million.
“This new addition to our festival highlights our commitment to innovation and supporting the next generation of industry leaders,” Ms Winstanley continued. “We look forward to seeing the innovative ideas and solutions that Start-Ups will bring to the festival.”
In 2023, the Innovation and Learning Festival welcomed more than 600 delegates across the two days, with 230 representatives from 80 different highway authorities along with members of academia, industry associations, the supply chain and media.
This year’s event takes place at NAEC Stoneleigh on 2 and 3 July, with a networking event on the evening of 2 July. For more details click here.
