STREETWISE

The TTF STREETWISE group is a closed group made up of members from Government nations (and invited nation partners) and the major English national road operators. It has both a legal function under the EU Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Directive (2010/40/EU) (the ITS Directive) and a best practice and interoperability function. It provides an update of it’s work through TTF Conferences.

About the Group

The Streetwise Group is a partnership between England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic, focused on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). The group is called Streetwise because it’s an acronym for the Seamless Travel Environment for Efficient Transport in the Western Isles of Europe.

Streetwise aims to improve transport efficiency by addressing equipment obsolescence, reducing carbon footprint, updating standards, and fostering communication and collaboration among members. By joining the Transport Technology Forum (TTF) after the EU exit, Streetwise gains access to quicker innovations from SMEs and promotes active travel initiatives to reduce reliance on cars. Streetwise also facilitates trials of new technologies on road networks, enabling data sharing and mutual benefits among members and TTF partners. Ultimately, it’s all about the road authorities working together to ensure we achieve seamless journeys.
