Digital Traffic Regulation Orders (D-TRO)

Welcome to the D-TRO Working Group Useful Resources page. Here, you’ll be kept informed about the digitalisation of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) in order to make informed decisions, and be able to access supporting documentation.

By joining the D-TRO Working Group, you’ll gain access to the main channel for updates from both the Department for Transport (DfT) regarding their development and the service providers collaborating with DfT to digitise TROs.

About the Group

The Department for Transport (DfT) is developing a single data standard for publishing Digital Traffic Regulation Orders (D-TRO) and creating a central store of those D-TROs  published by Traffic Regulation Authorities (TRAs) for others to access. To deliver this, the DfT is developing the current D-TRO Beta service with its external supplier, PA Consulting Ltd.

The objective of the D-TRO Working Group is to provide information and guidance that will assist Traffic Regulation Authorities and industry with the adoption of common digital practices for sharing digital TRO information.

The D-TRO TTF Working Group assists with D-TRO roll-out and adoption through:

  • Sharing of best practice and learning from local authorities participating in piloting the DfT’s D-TRO service, and ongoing developments;
  • Developing guidance that is relevant and easily consumed to the Traffic Regulation Authority audience;
  • Acting as a channel for input and comment, and oversight to the development and delivery of DfT’s D-TRO Beta service to assure that the development responds to market, users, and regulatory needs, and be an advocate for a robust approach to digitalisation of TROs;
  • Development of a D-TRO user community, centred on the TTF Working Group.

The TTF Working Group will seek membership that will reflect a broad representation of TRO producers and consumers, from both the public, private, and third sector.
