Department for Transport: Cyber Risk and Threat Quarterly Newsletter – September 2026

The Transport Technology Forum (TTF) is pleased to share the third edition of the Department for Transport’s Cyber Risk and Threat Quarterly September 2026

This product has been developed by DfT’s Cyber Team to provide the transport sector with a consolidated view of key National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) guidance, emerging threat trends, and relevant developments across all transport modes.

This edition includes:

  • Guidance on cyber preparedness, including the importance of incident response planning and exercising response arrangements to improve resilience.
  • A case study on a recruitment impersonation attempt, highlighting how cyber-enabled fraud can target organisations and individuals.
  • Insights into legacy technology risk, including common challenges, key findings from DfT’s work in this area, and approaches to managing associated cyber security risks.

Our aim is to support industry partners by providing clear, actionable information to strengthen cyber resilience and improve situational awareness across the sector.

If you have any questions, or would like support with any of the guidance included in this edition, please contact the DfT Cyber Team at cyber@dft.gov.uk.
