TTF Conference 2023

Event Date: 25 April 2023 - 27 April 2023

The 2023 Transport Technology Forum (TTF) Conference took place at the Hilton Hotel in Leeds from 25th to 27th April. The event brings together national government, local authorities, suppliers and academia to explain government policy and showcase best practice and innovation in the use of technology.

The conference provides a key event for practitioners in local authorities and their supply chains to use technology to deliver improved local highway services. The theme of the 2023 Conference examined how Government is supporting Local Authorities in the delivery of road transport technology to create a more prosperous and greener Britain.

Almost 250 people from across central government, local authorities and the private sector attended the conference, with local authorities receiving fully-funded places, including food and accommodation.

Delegates heard updates from five of the TTF Working Groups, the latest on the STREETWISE partnership between England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic, and from ERTICO – ITS Europe.  The vital online resource the Manual for Smart Streets was launched at the event, while the revamped Data Working Group revealed its focus for the rest of the year and the DfT’s Deputy Chief Scientific Adviser Dr Annette Pass (pictured) gave the keynote address including a focus on AI.

Darren Capes, TTF Manager and ITS Policy Lead at the Department for Transport, praised the collaboration between public and private sectors.

He commented that highways and road transport are changing quickly and the TTF is central to this by driving innovation and efficiency in the sector and helping people to share ideas and work together.
